Built in 1915 by Archie Woodman, who lived next door, this house on 87 Street was occupied from about 1960 until 2005 by Eugene and Anna Blouin and their family.
After 92 years this dignified working-class house said goodbye to Riverdale on a spring morning in 2007. By evening only a large hole existed where it had stood.
We grieve at her passing, but although Eugene and Anna had kept meticulous care of the house, it had serious issues: poor insulation and deteriorating electricals.
The new owner put up a state-of-the-art house in its place. A thoughtful neighbour, he made sure that, although the roofline is slightly higher than that of the Blouin house, it was designed such that it cast no more shade on the neighbours than before.
